"My mama told me...you better shop around"

fedoras.

Love them or hate them, they're perfect for summer and super chic. I was shopping for one but couldn't find a straw fedora for under 20$ and there was no way I was going to spend a lot of money on a hat. So I was shopping through wally world one day and I spotted a straw fedora that looked like ones that I had seen in several large department stores, except this one was only 8$!
And that's why you gotta shop around.

btw. straw summer hats look great with a messy side braid!

Oh what a magical night!

Okay not really.

Can we all just agree that prom is one of the most overrated nights during high school? I recently went to my own prom and it was fun, but it was definitely not magical in any sense of the word. BUT I am so happy that I didn't spend a ridiculous amount of money on my dress. I don't know if it's just me, but I cannot honestly justify spending hundreds of dollars on an over-the-top glitzy dress in which you can only wear one time.

Anyways I'll stop complaining and tell you a little about my own dress. I actually bought it a few days before prom (I wasn't procrastinating!) and it definitely looked classy yet age appropriate. And the best part was; I only spent $40 on it. After tearfully searching through dress shop after dress shop, I walked into Charlotte Russe to just look around at their clothes and I found this little gem in the back.

the classic crime

In this post I will be describing the top three classic articles of clothing that every classy woman should have in her closet, she should also realize that not only should fashion be affordable, it should be versatile. So here is the list:

1. the blazer
Roll up the sleeves during the summer for a cool preppy look, and layer it with a sweatshirt in the winter, this is really the most versatile article of clothing that you can own in your wardrobe. You can dress it up or dress it down, but it will always look classic

2. the nude heel
This classic shoe choice is a timeless piece to have in your wardrobe. Just like the blazer, you can either dress it up, or dress it down but it will always look clean and put together. This is one item in your closet that you should spend a little more on to get a comfortable and stylish heel. It looks great with a pair of dark wash skinny jeans or glammed up with a stylish dress. The nice thing about nude heels are, you can wear any type of color (like either warm or cooler colors) with them and it will look great!

3. the base layer
To every good outfit there is a base layer, a starting blank canvas for statement pieces to be placed over. This can either be a nice t-shirt or tank to layer with cardigans, scarves or necklaces. Many times the focus is put on that one significant piece such as a jacket or jewelry and the most important layer (the base layer) is overlooked. You can find solid color tank or t-shirt pretty much anywhere. The versatility of a good base layer cannot be compared to any other article of clothing, it is truly a must have for any classy lady. Check out Charlotte Russe's classic top, here.

a falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes.

In my previous post about aviator jackets (here) I usedBurberry's aviator jacket as an example, and although I would love to buy the Burberry jacket, the $3,500 price tag isn't exactly what I can afford. So I foundan alternative! H&M (love this place!) has a similar aviator jacket out and it is only $49.99! I'll post some pictures of it below!
